Special Meal Requests
Upon request, Blue Spirit Retreat will do its best to provide for special meal needs (such as lactose intolerance, food allergies, …etc.). To assure the availability of ingredients, it is important that these requests be communicated at least 2 weeks in advance. However, as a huge variety of non-allergic products are not as easily available in Costa Rica (as they are for example in the U.S.), and we cannot always guarantee our ability to satisfy each special request.

A safe and sure way of satisfying special meal needs is our PURE FOOD OPTION, which is part of our daily buffet style served lunch and dinner: offering of greens, grains, and legumes (beans) without oils or seasoning.

Café-Library
The Café-Library offers fresh juices, smoothies, freshly baked goods, raw food snacks, coffee specialties, and in the evening organic wines, and local beers.

Food and Beverages at the Café-Library are not included in the room & board rates of your program. All purchases will be charged individually, and can be paid with cash or charged directly to your room and paid before departure.

Wellness Services
Wellness services such as massages are available upon request. Individuals should contact the Reception desk with as much advance notice as possible (best upon arrival).

Medical Services in Nosara
From a general health perspective, Costa Rica has high health standards in the entire country, and is considered one of the safest destinations in the developing world.

English-speaking doctors have offices which are approximately a 15 minute drive from Blue Spirit Retreat, along with dentists and a pharmacy. In proximity are also acupuncturists, chiropractors, and other holistic healers, providing a range of health care and therapeutic services.

A hospital is located within a 45 minutes drive in Nicoya, or for serious conditions an air lift is available to a hospital with excellent and Western standard medical care in the capital of San Jose within 45 minutes.
There are no shots or immunizations required to come to Costa Rica.

Means of Communication
Phone: We have a pay phone for the use of our guests for local and international calls. We also recommend the use of Skype or other Internet phone services as the main building has WiFi, and the use of voice over Internet is easy, inexpensive, and reliable.
Cell Phone: There is a cell phone service on the premises that supports local CR cell phones and international phones
WiFi: Wireless Internet is available at no cost and can be accessed via personal laptops for use of E-mail, Skype, or any Internet-phone calls. For those with WiFi ready laptops access is free.
Public Access Computer: Available to our guests for a fee.
Fax: Services are available for guests for a fee (per page rate).

Money
Any extra spending while being at Blue Spirit Retreat (i.e. for activities organized through our reception desk – like surf lessons, horseback riding, canopy tours, or Wellness services – and any consumption at our Café-Lounge) can be charged on your credit card. Therefore we recommend not bringing too much extra cash from home ($500 max. should be sufficient). The US Dollar is widely accepted in Costa Rica, so exchanging US Dollars to Costa Rica Colones is usually not necessary. Smaller denominations of $20 or less are easiest to cash. The exchange rate is approx. 500 to 600 Colones per US Dollar.

ATM: There is an ATM machine and Bank10 minutes drive from Blue Spirit. The ATM and Bank only accept Visa Cards and disperses Costa Rica Colones.
Gratuities: The Costa Rican locals whose efforts will make your stay at Blue Spirit pleasant and safe are responsible for room cleaning services, grounds, security, maintenance, and the kitchen. If you are so inclined, we would suggest a gratuity of $50 per guest per week, which can be placed in the tip box upon check out.
Airport Exit Fee: There is a departure tax to be paid of approximately $26 at San Jose or Liberia airport when you leave Costa Rica. This is best paid in cash.

Safety Box & Personal Belongings
Each room is provided with a safety box at no charge. Blue Spirit Retreat is not responsible for any stolen personal belongings on the premises. Tents do not come with a safety box – there will be a safe at reception for valuables to be stored for campers.

Laundry Service
We do not provide laundry service at Blue Spirit Retreat. However, there is a laundry close to the Hotel Café de Paris. They will wash, dry, and fold your laundry for a fee of approximately $13.00.

Candles & Incense
For reasons of fire safety we don’t allow candle or incense burning in any of the accommodations.

Lost or Unreturned Keys
Blue Spirit Retreat charges a $25 fee for lost or unreturned room keys.

Orientation For Our Guests: 8:30 PM in the Main Yoga Hall
For an orientation and to answer common questions from the beginning of your stay with us, we recommend that all of our guests to come to our 30 minutes Orientation Talk on the evening of your Program’s arrival date. We offer this at 8:30 PM in the Main Yoga Hall.
