Getting There
Blue Spirit is situated in Nosara, on the Northern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Depending on your chosen arrival airport in Costa Rica, there are different options to travel onwards to Blue Spirit.
FLYING IN & OUT OF COSTA RICA

There are two international airports in Costa Rica: Liberia International Airport (LIR) and San Jose International Airport (SJO). Both airports have frequent flights from all over the United States and Canada.
The closest airport to Blue Spirit is Liberia International Airport (LIR). It is only a 2 hours scenic drive from Blue Spirit. Blue Spirit runs group shuttles on Saturdays from / to Liberia Airport. For other arrival and departure dates, individual arrangements can be made at different rates. San Jose International Airport is an alternative option as sometimes flights from the US or Canada to San Jose can be cheaper or more direct. However, there are NO Blue Spirit group shuttles from / to San Jose Airport, so getting to Blue Spirit by road is more costly (private taxis or rental car) and takes 4 ½ hours. If you need some individual recommendations in arranging your travel to Blue Spirit, send an email toshuttle@bluespiritcostarica.com. An alternative is taking a short plane flight from San Jose to the local airport in Nosara (the local airport is only 15 minutes taxi ride from Blue Spirit).
DEPARTURE TAX: There is a departure tax to be paid of $26 at San Jose or Liberia airport when you leave Costa Rica. It needs to be paid in cash (US$ or Costa Rican Colones) or with credit card at the airports on your departure day.

From Liberia International Airport (LIR) to Blue Spirit – a 2 hour drive
Blue Spirit Shuttle: BLUE SPIRIT runs group shuttles from/to Liberia only on Saturdays. You need to make advanced reservations for group shuttle services through your group’s organizer. For further details, please contact your group’s organizer directly or send an email to shuttle@bluespiritcostarica.com.
Rental Car: You may reserve your own rental car to drive from Liberia to Blue Spirit. However, a car is not needed during your stay with us. We recommend online bookings with www.toyota.com/rental or www.natcar.com, as these rental car companies allow you to drop off your car in Nosara. Taxi: If you prefer to travel on your own, there are always taxis available at the airport that will take you to Blue Spirit in Nosara for approximately $110 – $130. If you need a route description in English or Spanish, please contact shuttle@bluespiritcostarica.com.
From San Jose International Airport (SJO) to Blue Spirit – a 4,5 hour drive
There are NO Blue Spirit group shuttle services from / to San Jose Airport.
Rental Car: You may reserve your own rental car to drive from San Jose to Blue Spirit. However, a car is not needed during your stay with us. We recommend online bookings with www.toyota.com/rental or www.natcar.com as these rental car companies allow you to drop off your car in Nosara. The price for a one-day rental car with drop off in Nosara is usually around $100 (from either Liberia or San Jose). Taxi: There are always taxis available at the airport in San Jose that will take you to Blue Spirit in Nosara for approximately $ 200-220. If you need a route description in English or Spanish, please contact shuttle@bluespiritcostarica.com.
Flying to Nosara: You may take a 40 minutes flight to the domestic Nosara Airport, which is at a 15-minute drive from Blue Spirit. (It usually requires arriving in San Jose the night before and then taking a morning flight to Nosara to assure making the connection).
There are two airlines with daily flights to and from Nosara. For schedules, fares, and bookings visit www.natureair.com OR www.flysansa.com. Both airlines may impose luggage restrictions, and if you don’t want to pay for extra weight at the airport, read carefully the information on their websites.
We also like to alert you about the fact, that Sansa Airlines can change or cancel their scheduled flights, if the weather conditions are considered precarious for their propeller planes (too windy, i.e.).
Nature Air is much more reliable regarding their flight schedule. However, you will need to take a 20 minutes taxi ride ($20) to change from the San Jose International Airport to the Domestic Pavas Airport.
With both airlines we recommend for your homebound traveling to plan for ample connection time (4 hours), so that you don’t miss your departing international flight.
Once you arrive at Nosara Airport, there are always taxis waiting that can bring you to Blue Spirit. The trip costs $20 per taxi.
